extravagant grace
city street stretches
wakes to trash bin bangs
produce delivery truck brakes to feed
tan tourists
looking down on phones
discarding still-warm lattes
omelet halves from brunch
to be taken back out by this
man draping a sea-blue tarp
over his cans and shopping cart
our eyes meet
as he turns the corner on 3rd and Ford
underneath
the rooftop geraniums who witness
wordless with crimson, extravagant
grace
