plein air

today i felt like i was back in provence, but i could walk to this lavender field!  plein air painting is so much fun!  it was hot today for may, so the paints were drying quickly and i had to work fast!

for the watercolor piece, i just kept spraying it with water until all the layers were in.  and for the acrylic, it was done in just 10 minutes.

working from natural light on location helps an artist to paint what they see and be in the moment.  all you need are some travel art supplies, a chair & umbrella, and inspiration.
