in praise of moss, webs

thanks to dr. robin wall kimmerer, i love moss.  whenever i see a sign for "moss removal" i wince.  i've even started intentionally watering moss.  (did you know a certain type will do a visible "water dance" when it comes into contact with moisture?)

and webs, wow.  how would you feel if you spent all of that time weaving (and from your own body no less) only to have people constantly brushing them away?  some of the most beautiful webs i've seen have been inside which makes me not want to destroy them.  sure, they may not all spell out "salutations" as in Charlotte's Web, but they're to be respected.

i'm not sure when someone decided that moss or webs were signs of neglect that needed to be gotten rid of.  they're both miraculous!  it makes me wonder what other wonders we've weirdly demonized?

dandelions & dust?
