stillness
"so the darkness shall be the light and the stillness, dancing."--t.s. eliot
to sprawl beneath a sturgeon
moon the same craters gazed
at by ancestors
reflected
and watch this praying mantis
motionless but for mandibles
moving inaudible to us as
planets
or a heron fishing any momentum
lithely camouflaged by
cottonwood leaves in slightest
breeze
soul, be such a refuge
ceasefire of strife when restful noticing
holds weight as a favored chair
trust beyond
measure
