arborescence

my word du jour is arborescence:  having to do with resemblance of a tree in properties, growth, structure, or appearance. 

in general biology, this refers to forms that look like or grow in a similar way to trees.  in terms of minerals, it can also refer to tree-like crystallization patterns.  

go therefore and use "arborescence" in ordinary conversance.
