YlnMn blue

mas subramanian, milton-harris professor of materials science says, "that blue changed my life!" referring to the day in 2009 when he looked at the bright blue material left over after grad student, andrew smith, baked the elements yttrium, indium, and manganese at about 2,000 degrees. 

now called "mas blue", it is the first truly new blue in over 200 years with a steady stream of worldwide publicity as well as commercial and scientific interest.  check this out for a video and to see the blue in artwork at tiffany's art agency:
