spoiler alert
everyone on my christmas list is getting books this year! i suppose the only surprise remains which book, specifically.
each year i have fun picking either a theme or a local street to support while doing holiday shopping. this year i chose the same little bookshop and went to the registers, arms piled with treasures, not once but twice.
disclaimer: your book may have been read once by someone, oh, i don't know, close to me. as in, me. but i promise not to dog-ear, underline, tear, or set my coffee cup on it. although i suppose while that would add authenticity, it wouldn't be much of a gift.
and have you considered sending gifts for Epiphany (jan 6) like the wise men?
not that i'm asking for all the long lines to shift from now until the new year, but i have empathy for our local postal workers. do you know how many times in one afternoon alone they are required to say, "does your package contain anything with batteries/lithium or otherwise liquid, hazardous, or perishable?" lord have mercy. no item i know if is so important that it can't wait a couple of weeks.
just a thought.
meanwhile, if you need me, i'll be reading your christmas gift. oops, a book.
