the country margin
i've started adding in 15 minutes to my morning routine. i'm calling it "the country margin" but you don't have to live in the country do practice it!
what did i notice? that leaving extra time, especially in the summer mornings when we're all outside more regularly, to connect with my neighbors is awesome! instead of being in a rush on my way to work, i can roll the window down and visit while they are walking the dogs or putting letters in the mailbox.
a meaningful connection doesn't have to take a long time and i'm so glad when i leave space intentionally for touching base should it occur!
the same goes for open-ended time during errands, if possible. then i'm not having to check the time or cut it short should i run into someone and we chance to start having an enjoyable visit.
it's wonderful and has really increased the enjoyment of ordinary days which, if you think about it, make up most of the bulk of our lifetime.
instead of packing every moment back-to-back, i wonder what would happen if we left more country margin?
