word of the day: prutention
this blog entry brought to us by my cousin as shared with him by a word-loving friend of his.
prune + intention: prutention. cutting away the excess, the unnecessary, the unhelpful, the unhealthy in order to purposefully help to heal others, to find healing for ourselves, and experience healthy new ways of living; to grow where we couldn't grow before because something was in the way.
sometimes we do the pruning, at times others or life circumstances do it for us.
i remember when my dad was teaching me to prune roses and we cut way further than i would have and the blooms that summer were the most beautiful ever.
perhaps you are going through a season of pruntention. it can feel really brutal. and the blooms can be really lovely, but they aren't visible until much later.
as always, your thoughts and experiences welcome here!
