interdependence=true freedom
i read a great sentence i'll be chewing on for quite some time/the rest of my life. it read to the effect of that in our (US culture's) quest for staunch independence (the aspect that can refer to not needing anyone or anything else) the consequence has often been a negative cycle of dependence (plastics, poor soil quality, consumerism, addictions, lack of true nourishment, etc.)
she goes on to say that who we in the west have dubbed "primitive" cultures were actually well-advanced and largely self-sufficient, if you look at being able to accomplish everything from building their own homes and hunting and gathering to taking care of one another and leading healthy, robust lives.
a question may be: can we humbly acknowledge our need for others & the land to cultivate a healthy interdependence or mutual reciprocity, thus gaining freedom in the truest sense of the word?
what are your thoughts on this or where do you see positive, healthy, mutual reciprocity in action?
