diner blanc

a guest recently told me about diner blanc and i love the idea:  guests wear white, provide their own food, chairs & tablecloth, and converge to form a huge picnic!

the history dates back to 1988 in paris when francois pasquier hosted an outdoor dinner at the bois de boulogne and asked guests to wear white so they could find one another.

in 2011 a diner blanc was held in new york city with a guest list of 6,500 and over 80,000 people on a waiting list.

now 30 years later, these secret posh picnics have expanded all over the globe.  only a few previous guests are privy to the location and when it is revealed they converge on an iconic urban locale to feast.

how much fun is that!?  i'd love to host one.

meanwhile, you can find out more here diner en blanc
