enjoyment
i believe wholeheartedly in reflection, emotional intelligence, and personal growth. in fact, if i'm awake, chances are i'm thinking, creating meaning, or trying to transform something into a lesson of sorts for myself and my betterment. it's good. it's hard-won.
and also...
it's important for personalities like mine to sometimes take a break and say, you know what, i've grown enough for today. just for today what if i just enjoyed myself? there will be plenty more opportunities for growth and reflection.
i believe, as important as self and others-awareness is, that we were created for enjoyment.
to feel a breeze of perfect temperature on our brow. to watch a hawk soar while the clouds shift shapes. to taste the range of flavors in food. to revel in moving our bodies. to listen to a bird singing just outside our window. to notice the bright yellow and green of spring.
what if, just for today, we stopped striving to be a better version of ourselves--to do more or to have more--and simply existed in the moment and took pleasure in what it means to be alive?
i wonder...
