enjoyment

i believe wholeheartedly in reflection, emotional intelligence, and personal growth.  in fact, if i'm awake, chances are i'm thinking, creating meaning, or trying to transform something into a lesson of sorts for myself and my betterment.  it's good.  it's hard-won.

and also...

it's important for personalities like mine to sometimes take a break and say, you know what, i've grown enough for today.  just for today what if i just enjoyed myself?  there will be plenty more opportunities for growth and reflection.

i believe, as important as self and others-awareness is, that we were created for enjoyment.

to feel a breeze of perfect temperature on our brow.  to watch a hawk soar while the clouds shift shapes.  to taste the range of flavors in food.  to revel in moving our bodies.  to listen to a bird singing just outside our window.  to notice the bright yellow and green of spring.

what if, just for today, we stopped striving to be a better version of ourselves--to do more or to have more--and simply existed in the moment and took pleasure in what it means to be alive?

i wonder...
