a year in burgundy

i'm into french wine documentaries and films these days, my most recent view, "a year in burgundy."  the wild thing?  the very next day at the winery, i received a call from france!  i was just there, opening the register and daily bottles, minding my own business when the phone rang.  it looked like a different area code and it sure was!

turned out to be an oregonian living in bordeaux who was working on his dissertation in the business and marketing aspect of wine.  could he do an interview with us for his doctoral studies?

once i made sure the call wasn't costing him per minute, he kindly let me ask any questions about france and winemaking that i wanted to.  so for about 20 minutes we bantered back and forth about caves, vintages, varietals, science, and a bit about my trip to paris and provence back in 2012.

it's not every day that we get a call from europe, particularly not on the heels of just having watched this film about wine european style.  i'd have to say it was about the most interesting thing that's happened to me lately!
