a spot of color
today is a particularly foggy day here in the pacific northwest. beautiful, but cold in the way the fog tries to settle into one's bones. i went for my walk anyway and on my return jaunt, these were waiting for me in the mailbox!
it's a highlight of my winter to look through the seed catalogue and order, not to mention when they actually arrive. i'm especially eager for this new and fancy varietal of sunflower--even though it's not edible, i just couldn't resist. plus it attracts more bees and birds to the garden which ultimately ends up benefitting the food crops.
i will arrange, stage, look at, rearrange, set aside, and look at these again many times until planting, imagining the taste and joy of sharing bounty with neighbors and friends.
