sufficient

this week i started to head off to the store for the holidays just because it's what i've always done.  then i stopped and realized i already had everything i needed. not only that, but more than enough.  i had food to eat and gifts to give, my household was more than sufficient.  it was enough.

a great feeling of contentment flooded over me.

followed by creativity.

i could marinate my holiday main dish in the last of the wild blueberries in the freezer!   it was fun to approach things as an eager challenge instead of one more obligatory errand on a never-ending list.

this gift of sufficiency meant i had time to spend with a friend and to walk simple gifts up to the neighbors.  time for a long walk and even a nap.

(we humans are the only creatures i know of who run themselves silly during a season when everything else hibernates.)

my definition of wealth encompasses more attitude than acquisition.  being wealthy, in my mind, is having what we need and enough to share.

what does sufficiency look and feel like to you?
