the nest that wren built
it's safe to say this is the first spring in my 45 years where i've been able, quite literally, to watch ferns unfurl and blossoms emerge.
one day it seems branches are winter-bare and the next the entire acreage has filled in, greens in a range like new crayons.
there's time to watch the birds build their nests in our birdhouses and also in one of their favorite places: the front porch light.
a couple of days ago when i was at the store i was searching for a new children's book and couldn't find one to add to my collection.
a wonderful unexpected gift arrived from a friend the very next day! "the nest that wren built" by randi sonenshine, illustrated by anne hunter. and it's perfect. i curled up with a cup of tea and read the sweet story of new life.
my friend had no idea i'd been searching for a book. so thought i'd share the little joys along the way, for i find that they are actually quite big gifts!
