an episode of sparrows
an episode of sparrows
dusk is more than darkness signified
it is the—hush, now—time of day
when i am surprised again
that the trees, black with sparrows, sing
so through my open window
i have pause to hear their thundering
the severely gathered chatter
slowly eases into song
then silence
and now the
night can
come
