what we need is here
i recently created this painting overtop a canvas that had several attempts underneath. it is of spent peony blooms, some dropping petals, inside a kintsugi style vase--that is to say broken and mended with gold.
to me, it speaks of aging into wholeness and the beauty of transformation.
the text reads, "*it is the bouquet that is unmaking us; let oneself be guided by nature and find room, room for oneself here and now. **what we need is here."
(the first sentence is attributed to *parisian floral designer christian tortu, and the second sentence to **poet mike essig).
