the solace of open spaces
wonderful book on loan from dear friends, the solace of open spaces by gertrude ehrlich. started reading it in their hammock and finished it in my lounger, so good summer moments have been had. i wrote down many quotes from her refreshing writing style, but here are three of my favorites:
"the art of accomodation: to be tough is to be fragile; to be tender is to be truly fierce."
"every shiver of grass counts. the shallows and dapples in air that give grass life are like water."
"nature expresses herself as a bright fuse, irrepressible and organic."
