giving things time
just read a wonderful book in one sitting because i couldn't put it down. it built slowly, like a well-tended fire.
i didn't read it because it was number one on the new york times best sellers list three times in a row (it was) or because the author is famous (she is) but because it was so well written a friend left it for me because she knew i'd love it.
"where the crawdads sing" by delia owens is a wonderful start to a summer reading list. even before i knew delia spent time in solitude, in nature, i could tell by her turns of phrase.
and i love that she is seventy years old, that this is her first novel, and that it took ten years to craft!
here is an interview with the author: https://youtu.be/r9KKzX6j9G8
