vacating the usual

whether you find yourself on spring vacation or not, it's always good to embrace a different routine.

for me, it's lovely to read a book in one sitting ("eleanor oliphant is completely fine" by gail honeyman) or watch old british murder mysteries.

time to join friends spontaneously at the weekend market wearing sandals in the sun, having croissants and coffee to punctuate people-watching.

roasting dinner over an open backyard firepit under stars and party lights, talking into the early morning hours or getting lost in a feel good movie (the new "mary poppins").

it is good for my soul to vacate its usual routine, cares, and concerns.  part of this is found in the company of animals. filling their feeders like prayer, i am reminded to trust the hand that feeds me and to find this simple joy of companionship in ordinary moments.

when the world seems too complex, to watch the "lambs too have fair their fling", gleefully cavorting in the greening spring fields.

whether you have a string of days or a free moment, how might you let your soul too have fair its fling?

  1. OOH! which old british murder mysteries?! inquiring minds must know! (also, have we talked about Miss Fisher?)

  2. "foyle's war" is a favorite and am currently enamored with "father brown", a literary creation of GK Chesterton! Miss Fisher? I am intrigued...
