hibernation

"the remembrance of hibernation is the reminder of rest, of introspection, meditation, and dreaming."  (this reminds me of my grandpa's favorite book, The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel.)  "Each and every being has the capacity to still the mind and enter the silence, or the cave, and come to a deep knowing.  Hibernation also reminds us (of the transformative relationships we have with time, especially the time dedicated to pause, silence, and stillness.  Calming allows us to rest, and resting is a precondition for healing".

This can be an opportunity to build one's own cave and rebuild a capacity for radical rest.

Questions for the cave-dweller:

-what is your relationship to rest?

-what resistance do you have to pausing?

-how might your stories enact cycles of the four seasons, of movement and stillness, of life and death?
