monet refuses the operation

during any free time i have, i seek beauty.  outdoors, indoors, in the faces of people, by the resonance of truth that continues to ring out like a bell following certain conversations.

here is a book that i really enjoyed recently on the life of isabella stewart gardner and how she drew people and art around her to collect and share with future generations.

while reading it, i also got out large coffee table books on artists that were peers with gardner such as anders zorn and john singer sargent.

i copied out this poem by lisel meuller and tucked it in the book monet refuses the operation.  not only is it a keen perspective on the artist, another peer whom gardner met, but transmutes what could be seen as "loss of vision" into a gain, once again, of beauty.

enjoy!
